The tour lasts about four hours. This is the most dynamic of our Bayou St. John tours; geared towards active, outdoor-type folks, though kayaking experience is not necessary. We paddle the entire length of Bayou St. John and back. This paddle includes the route of the Big Easy Bayou Tour plus some, about double the distance in total. A couple of nutritionists have clocked this as a 1,200 calorie burning activity, making plenty of room for fried oysters and Abita beer! You’ll kayak through New Orleans’ oldest neighborhood learning about homes dating back to the late 1700’s and the native communities pre-dating European settlements. Plus, you’ll get a deep understanding of Southern Louisiana’s environmental dilemmas and diverse eco-systems. There is a great opportunity for a bit of bird watching and observing our community at play. We put down the paddles midway through the tour, take a short walk to Lake Pontchartrain and admire its beauty and vastness. On a hot day, a dip in the lake is just magical!
On Jazz Festival days, we only offer the Juiced for Jazz Fest tour.
Available by reservation only, we offer kayaking tours seven days a week, year-round. We take a minimum of 2 kayakers.
Keep in mind, this is a small, family-run operation, if we do not respond immediately to your phone call or email, it’s probably because we’re on the water. As soon as we regain our land legs, we’ll get back to you!
You’ll receive a 100% refund for cancellations made with 2 days advance-notice (or if we cancel due to bad weather), 75% within 48 hours, and only 50% within 24 hours. No refund if you’re a no show, and no call (within two hours of the appointed time).
